Standing Committees Descriptions

Community Involvement Committee

The function of the Community Involvement Committee is to ensure that the Association's members have opportunity over the course of the year to assist with projects, causes or charities in the Metro area that promote community initiatives.

Credentials Committee

Reviews applications for REALTOR® and Designated REALTOR® membership and makes recommendations to the JAR Board of Directors based upon the criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

Governmental Affairs Committee

Identifies qualified candidates for local public office and provides the resources to help them become elected. The Committee also is responsible for fund raising efforts among the membership to support political candidates who subscribe to the REALTOR'S® belief that private property rights and the free enterprise system must be protected. Members of the Committee are knowledgeable on legislative issues and share a strong responsibility to encourage all other REALTORS® to participate in fund raising efforts and to become involved in political action.

Grievance Committee

One of two committees involved with Code of Ethics Enforcement. The Grievance Committee reviews all ethics complaints and arbitration requests and determines whether or not the cases meet the criteria to be forwarded to the Professional Standards Committee to schedule a hearing. The Grievance Committee does not hold hearings and do not determine guilt or innocents. They act as aGrandJury. Committee members are committed to attending annual Grievance Committee training and to staying abreast of any changes in the policies and procedures outlined in the current year Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.

MLS Committee

Reviews the MLS system and makes recommendations for enhancements and improvements to the MLS Board of Directors.

Professional Development Committee

Responsible for planning and implementing programs and initiatives that raise the skills level and professionalism of our membership from new agents to principal brokers.

  • Teachers (past and present)

Professional Standards Committee

One of two committees involved with Code of Ethics enforcement. A panel of the Professional Standards Committee hears ethics complaints and arbitration requests, rendering decisions and imposing sanctions, if necessary. A five-member panel of the Committee hears an ethics case to determine whether or not a violation or violations of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics occurred; and they hear arbitration requests to determine entitlement to compensation. Members of the Committee are committed to attending annual training on Code of Ethics enforcement and keeping abreast of the rules and regulations for Code of Ethics Enforcement available in the current year Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.
